Breast lift; will there be noticeable scarring?

Our Breast Lift procedure is performed due to a process called Ptosis. Ptosis is a process that involves the sagging of the breast tissue and ligaments which are responsible for the overall shape of the breasts. This occurs for many reasons, such as ageing, breastfeeding or increase in weight, and can happen gradually over time.

Ptosis leaves many women feeling unattractive and unhappy with the position of their breasts, which were once higher and more youthful in nature. This is where a Breast Lift procedure can help.

Mr. Morris Ritz can restore your breasts to a more youthful position, lifting them to a more desirable location. The result is a confidence boost, and a naturally youthful appearance that you used to have years ago.

Will there be noticeable scarring?

This is a question we are often asked, as unlike Breast Augmentation procedures, Breast Lift procedures require incisions placed in different locations.

Depending on the degree of Ptosis occurring, a Breast Lift can be performed using various techniques and incision locations.

If only a minor lift is required, due to minor sagging taking place, then a ‘donut’ incision around the areola may be all that is necessary. If this is the case, then scarring will be very minimal and easily disguised around the circumference of the areola.

For those patients with a bigger degree of Ptosis taking place, a ‘lollipop’ incision may be required. This is when the circular incision is made around the areola, though will extend in a vertical line from the bottom of the areola to the lower breast tissue. This ensures that the entirety of the breast can be lifted into the desirable location.

In return, the scarring post-procedure will be noticeable. However, it is very important to note that this vertical scar will fade over time, becoming less and less noticeable.

Mr Morris Ritz can provide topical creams that assist in the diminishing of scars and will do everything he can to ensure that scarring is kept to a minimum.

How will I know if I will have scarring or not?

As always, education is key. Understanding your procedure and establishing realistic expectations are both aspects that Mr Ritz covers during your initial consultation. We recommend scheduling an initial consultation with Mr Morris Ritz to discover your options, discuss your goals and develop a plan that can have you looking and feeling better. We are unable to provide concrete expectations of surgery via the internet or phone without conducting a personalised and thorough examination beforehand. Each person is unique and therefore, each Breast Lift procedure is as well. Therefore we can provide more information on your personal case upon consultation.
